Bishop's 86, Lyndon State 70

Gaiters close out Men's Basketball preseason with 86-70 win over Lyndon State

LENNOXVILLE - The Bishop's Gaiters Men's Basketball team closed out their non-conference play with an 86-70 win over the Lyndon State (Vt.) Hornets in Lyndonville, Vermont. The Gaiters led the Hornets, an NCAA Division III team, throughout the game, and had a 50-38 halftime edge.

Tim McAleenan (Sussex, N.B.) led the Gaiters with 17 points while Oraine Greene(Toronto, Ont.) and Ryan Steele (Toronto, Ont.) chipped in 16 points each. Hermon Tesfaghebriel (Coquitlam, B.C.) collected a team-high 10 rebounds and two blocked shots for the winners.

Jason Grey led the Hornets with 16 points and Logan Calkins added 13. Avery King tallied 12 points - all in the first half -and Jose Fortunato grabbed nine rebounds and dished out five assists for Lyndon.

The Gaiters (3-6 overall, 3-5 vs. CIS) open up the QUBL season next Friday, November 13, as they visit the Concordia Stingers in Montreal. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m., with the women's basketball season-opener following at 8 p.m.
