Canada West Weekend

Canada West schedule takes a break from the full interlock portion of the schedule with all games within the same divisions - all games are double headers - with the feature matchups likely #3 Calgary Dinos visiting Saskatoon to meet Saskatchewan Huskies who were in the Top 10 for much of the young season until a pair of losses on the very difficult road trip to UBC and UVic pushed the Dogs out. Before the season, observers viewed Dinos back court as a possible achilles heel however the steady work of 6'1" fifth-year Jamie McLeod and 6'1" freshman Jerrod Ogungbemi-Jackson has alleviated many of those doubts. Calgary's guards will be in tough against Huskies POY candidate Showron Glover, especially with his ability to gamble defensively and generate easy scores. Up front, expect a very physical battle as 6'8" Troy Gottselig battles with Dinos Big Three of 6'9" Tyler Fidler, 6'6" Robbie Sihota and 6'8" Ross Bekkering. The Saskatoon Star-Phoenix presents their weekend preview in today's paper. The games will also be webcast on Huskies TV with LIVE! STATS also available.

Two very good pair of games highlight play in the competitve Pacific Division as #10 Simon Fraser visits Fraser Valley where the Cascades have competed in every game and are more than worthy of consideration for a top finish in that division. Also, Victoria Vikes travel to meet #9 Trinity Western Spartans. Alberta Golden Bears host Regina Cougars in a matchup of teams with aspirations of finishing on top of the Prairie division.
