Upset in St. John's as MUN knocks off Saint Mary's
The host Seahawks forged a 17 point halftime lead and then held on to defeat the Huskies 79-77 despite 28 points from Saint Mary's guard Joey Haywood. 6'5" Jason Shepherd had 20 ponts, 14 rebounds and 7 assists for MUN while Robbie Habib added 17. In an unlikely scenario depending upon your experiences, the host Seahawks were whistled for only 8 fouls all evening as SMU made only 1 trip to the foul line the entire game according to the box score on the CIS site. Seahawks were 9-14 from the stripe, taking advantage of 18 SMU fouls on the evening. The teams meet again tomorrow afternoon.
