Regina 92, Thompson Rivers 85 (Overtime) Jeff Lukomski and Jamal Williams hit back-to-back treys early in the extra frame as the Cougars edged the WolfPack in Regina. Earlier Williams tied the score at 77 on a layup with 27 seconds remaining, pushing the game into overtime after Jeff Friesen almost singlehandidly pulled out an improbable late comeback for TRU, scoring 7 consecutive points, part of a 9-0 'Pack run that gave TRU a two point lead in the final minute. The Cougars had led by 10 with 8 1/2 minutes remaining before the resiliant WolfPack mounted a charge. 6'2" Paul Schubach had 22 points to lead Regina while Williams added 18 and Lukomski 20 as the veterans led the way for the Cougars. Freisen led TRU with 21 points and 16 rebounds while Connor Agnew shot 6 for 7 from beyond the arc to finish with 20. Sean Garvey had 16 points, 7 rebounds and 9 turnovers for Thompson Rivers.
In other games, UBC solidified their hold on the likely #1 ranking in the country by downing Manitoba in Winnipeg 93-75, Victoria kept Winnipeg Wesmen winless in Canada West play with an easy 72-47 win while Brandon hammered Fraser Valley 88-59.
In one final score just in, Alberta Golden Bears avenged last night's pounding at the hands of the Huskies by edging Saskatchewan 71-70 tonight in Edmonton in what was described as a great comeback win by the Bears.
