Toronto 68, Brock 62
6'3" Pat Sewell's driving layup with 1:40 remaining gave the Blues the lead for good and later 6'8" Nick Snow hit a tough face-up jumper with the shot clock winding down as the Varsity Blues experience showed late in a tough win at Brock. Down 5 with 4 mintues remaining, Toronto's fifth-year 6'2" guard Nick Magalas knocked in 5 straight points including a three to tie the game, setting up Sewell's go-ahead take to the rim. With the Blues up 4 in the final minute, the Badgers executed a perfect backdoor cut that gave 6'1" Didi Mukendi an open layup that would have got it back to 2 with 20 seconds left however unfortunately it came off and the Badgers fate was sealed. Toronto also got an outstanding performance from 6'1" Anthony DeGiorgio who played 33 minutes and scored 15 points while logging time in the absence of suspended fifth-year guard Rob Paris. 6'6" Drazen Glizic was a monster on the glass with 17 rebounds while Toronto did a credible job on Brock's star 6'4" freshman Clinton Springer-Williams who had only 13 points on 4-13 shooting, well below his season average as Sewell did a fine job defending one-on-one and Blues also sprinkled in some zone with a view of not letting the very talented freshman get to the rim. Mukendi led Brock with 14 points while second year guard Joel Whitty added 13 and 6'8" Brian Nahimana had a near double-double with 10 points and 9 rebounds showing a couple of slick post moves in the process. Brock hosts Ryerson tomorrow afternoon, having defeated the Rams in the pre-season in October while Toronto travels to Guelph.
