Martin TImmerman's Waterloo/Laurentian report

Win or lose Martin does a great job with all Waterloo home games...

Warriors Win With Hot Shooting The Waterloo Warriors used a hot shooting night to defeat the visiting Laurentian Voyaguers 91-70 on Friday night. The Warriors shot 52% from the field including 13 of 21 for 62% from the three point line. They added an 80% night from the free throw line. The Warriors started quickly, building a 10-5 lead after 3 minutes, making it 26-15 after the first period and holding a 52-29 lead at half time. Cam McIntyre with 12 and Manny Pasquale with 8 led Waterloo and Laurentian in first half scoring. To start the second half Waterloo briefly extended the lead to 26 points before Laurentian hit some threes and made some stops on Waterloo. Laurentian narrowed the gap to 15 early in the fourth quarter, but Waterloo re-grouped to bring it back over 20. Both team emptied the bench for the last three minutes with the game decided. Cam McIntyre led four Warriors in double figures with 21 points. Luke Kieswetter and Jesse Tipping had 13 points each. Alan Goodhoofd was just short of a double-double with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Ben Frisby sat out the game for Waterloo, still suffering from an injury suffered in Ottawa last weekend. For Laurentian, Manny Pasquale ended with 14 points and Jamie Campbell added 11 points. Next up for Waterloo is the York Lions at 8:00pm on Saturday. York is 1-6 in OUA play, losing to Laurier on Friday night. The games are part of a Think Pink fund raiser and awareness weekend at Waterloo. Men's and women's hockey and basketball teams provide the sporting events.
