Oral Roberts 36, UBC 31 at halftime
It was a half of runs as ORU got out 7-0 and 17-9 before the T-Birds briefly took the lead after a 12-0 run to lead 21-17 midway through the half. However, the Golden Eagles did strong work on the offensive glass late in the half and after an 11-1 run led 28-22 and threatened to break the game open. However, Josh Whyte (10 points in the half) and Brent Malish (6 points off the bench) plus a late 3 from Denny Dumas off a nice shake and feed by Alex Murphy allowed the Birds keep the game close. The Golden Eagles shot 11 more free throws than UBC in the half yet UBC stayed in the game with a 3 for 7 effort from beyond the arc. Kamar Burke had 4 first-half points for the T-Birds.
