If the nation didn't believe the T-Wolves were for real before tonight, Lakehead left little doubt that this is the case by shocking the #1 team in the nation at home in the Thunderdome tonight. Once again, as has been the case all regular season, the T-Wolves dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring Carleton 20-9 to win by 3.... MORE...
Lakehead once again overcame a 4th quarter deficit, this time against the #1 team in the country to outlast Carleton 76-73

Carleton capitalized in the first half on sloppy turnovers and poor defensive rotations by lakehead
2nd half lakehead did a better job going inside and started knocking down some outside shots

Lakehead Coach Scott Morrison on the victory... "There is no question that was a huge win for us. While it only counts for two points in the standings, our team now believes we are capable of beating any team with the right type of focus, intensity and execution. We were not perfect tonight, but luckily neither was Carleton and we were able squeeze out a tough one. The trick now is to get re-focused on a hot Ottawa team tomorrow night and do everything we can to finish the semester on a winning note."

I noticed a few things from gleaning the box score of this game.
First, the ravens were hit hard with major foul trouble.
Hobin, Kenny and Smendziuk all fouled out, with the latter two having played just over 20 minutes.
Even Tyson Hinz coming off the bench had 4 fouls.
Home cooking perhaps?
Or maybe that was a by product of the Ravens not being able to handle Lakehead's inside game.
No doubt though, having three starters foul out contributed to Carleton's 4th quarter collapse.
Secondly, a sub par performance from Kevin McCleery. Only 9 points but perhaps more importantly only 25 rebounds, far below average for Carleton.
The only Raven who stood out was Elliot Thompson, who this year is living up to his original billing as the best HS player coming out of NB.
Kudos to Lakehead though.
A remarkable turnaround from last year, having already surpassed last year's victory total.
The Timberwolves have a rather fortuitous schedule that sees them play the east's top three teams at home.
So far, they have taken full advantage of that.
Time will tell if this excellent start is an anomaly or the start of something really big.
