Lukomski looks to make history

Regina Cougars Jeff Lukomski will look to make history on Saturday by first playing for the Cougars football squad (he is a DB) before boarding a plane down to Lethbridge in order to suit up for the Cougars basketball squad later that night.

Two games, one day

Jeff Lukomski is set for the ultimate test of a two-sport athlete.

Lukomski, a fourth-year member of the University of Regina Cougars men's basketball team and a first-year member of the U of R Rams football team, will attempt to play both sports in different cities on Saturday.

The task actually begins today when Lukomski and the Rams depart for Saskatoon where he will start at cornerback in a Canada West semifinal against the Saskatchewan Huskies on Saturday (1 p.m., Griffiths Stadium).

Immediately following that game ("I may have to miss the post-game speech," he said), Lukomski will head to the Saskatoon airport and hop on a 5 o'clock flight to meet up with his basketball teammates in Lethbridge where they will play the Pronghorns. Lukomski's flight includes a stopover in Calgary before he arrives in Lethbridge at approximately 7:30 p.m. local time.
