QSSF: Second half comeback drives Laval's 7th straight win
Laval (13-8, 7-2) 86, Bishop's (6-10, 2-6) 69 5'9" Xavier Baribeau continued his solid play, scoring 20 points including 4-8 3's and adding 6 assists as Laval came from 5 down at halftime at home to record their 7 straight win. The well-prepared Gaiters ran patient offense and took advantage of foul trouble to 6'7" J.P. Morin (22 points, 5 rebounds) who sat out the entire second quarter after being saddled with 2 but Baribeau made big shots to keep Laval in it and then the Rouge et Or "d", ranked 3rd in the entire CIS in FG% "d", took over in the third quarter and Baribeau led their transition attack to allow Laval to win going away. Laval also got a solid two-way effort from 6'4" Jerome Turcotte, who had 18 points and 9 rebounds and as importantly harrassed Gaiters 6'1" Junior Nicolas into 3-15 shooting including 0-4 3's and only 12 points. Les Rouge et Or 6'3" wing J.F. Beaulieu-Mahieux injured his groin in the first half and was limited to just 10 minutes. His status going forward is unknown. 6'8" Marc-Andre Cote, now fully recovered from a concussion that limited his effectiveness in the first half of the season, added 8 points and keyed the Laval break with 14 rebounds. Damon Thomas Anderson had a 10-point/10-rebound double double for Bishop's. Laval has won their last 7 in a row including their last 4 by at least 17 points or more.
