Capers continue winning ways with win over UPEI

** NEW ** Greg Layson does his usual stellar job tracking the Guelph Gryphons for the Guelph Mercury newspaper with a note about last night's win at Windsor on his site Big Man on Campus Look for more coverage on this game tomorrow on our site as Greg's official story for the Mercury will appear in Monday's editions.

Cape Breton (8-1) 80, UPEI (3-5) 52 Up 17 at halftime, the Capers quickly grew the lead to 20+ in coasting to an easy win over visiting UPEI on Sunday afternoon in Sydney. 6'4" Paul Blake broke out with a 19 point effort while 6'5" Eric Breland finished with 16 points and 8 rebounds as the Capers played all 12 players who dressed at least 7 minutes. Cape Breton stifled the Panthers defensively, holding the visitors to only 30% shooting. Veteran Jared Budd and freshman Manock Lual each had 11 points for the Panthers, who lost both games during their weekend trip to Sydney and Antigonish.

St. FX (6-2) 105, UNB (0-8) 45 The X-Men dominated from start to finish with no starter playing more than 21 minutes to record a very easy win against the Reds. X had 7 players in double figures including freshman Chad Warren who had 13 and Daouli Lengema who had 12. Both Warren and Lengema have performed well recently, moving up the depth chart in the absence of suspended forwards Terrence Taylor and Alberto Rodriquez. X now faces possibly their toughest stretch of the season in their next 4 games, hosting Cape Breton next weekend, then traveling to St. Mary's the following Tuesday and culminating 10 days later in back-to-back games against the Huskies and Acadia at home. "This four game stretch will really give us a good sense of how far we've come as a team." offered X coach Steve Konchalski after today's win.
