Dal gets key road win at UPEI
Dalhousie (12-12, 6-6) 76, UPEI (6-18, 5-8) 71 In a game that got interesting down the stretch, the Tigers prevailed in a key road win for them to push Dal 1 1/2 games ahead of the Panthers for fifth spot in the AUS. Dal generally enjoyed comfortable double digits leads behind 6'1" Simon Farine, who had his best game since November with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for Dal but the Panthers made a late run with about 4 minutes remaining, turning up the pressure and watching 6'1" Andrew Sullivan commit a series of turnovers making it close. But Sullivan more than atoned for his miscues with a big 3 with just under a minute to play and then a pair of clinching free throws. UPEI stayed in the game on the tremendous inside play of 6'3" Andrew Black (24 points, 17 rebounds including 6 offensive) who had several takes to the rim and putbacks while 6'6" freshman Manock Lual found some favorable matchups, finishing with 18 points and 7 rebounds but it was not enough to lift the Panthers. The teams meet again tomorrow in Charlottetown at 3 PM Atlantic time.
