Crowd of 12,000 expected for Capital Hoops Classic

This coming Saturday's MBNA Capital Hoops Classic between #1 Carleton Ravens and #6 Ottawa Gee-Gees should attract a crowd of over 12,000 fans, according to estimates by the marketing department at uOttawa, the host of this season's game. The large projected attendance was one of several topics discussed on the "Big Bad Sports Show" on Rogers Television in Ottawa during which Head Coaches Dave Smart and Dave DeAveiro plus Gee-Gees center Dax Dessureault and Ravens guard Ryan Bell appeared with host Tony House and Ottawa Citizen Basketball writer Wayne Kondro . If the uOttawa projections are correct, the game sh should break last season's record for the largest crowd ever for a CIS regular season game and could potentially break the all-time record attendance for any CIS game (exhibition or Nationals), set a few years ago in Hamilton at Copps Coliseum. Rogers will televise Saturday's game in the Capital Region (and possibly the rest of Ontario); tickets are available for Saturday's game by visiting capitaltickets.ca
