UBC holds off Cascades in Game One
UBC 82, UCFV 63 The T-Birds took control after trailing by double digits in the third quarter led by 6'0" Alex Murphy, who orchestrated a 38-8 run to end the game, leading UBC to an improbable the game one romp that was much closer than the final score indicated. The Cascades had their way for the first 26 minutes of play, taking UBC out of the offense to lead 55-44 with 4 minutes left in the third quarter. But then Murphy and 6'4" Blaine Labranche (15 points, most in the second half) sparked the T-Birds culminated by Murphy's long three pointer with 4 minutes left to give UBC a 71-59 lead . 6'3" Chris Dyck kept the Birds in the game early and had a team-high 20 points. The teams meet again tomorrow night in Vancouver.
