Bishop's Eddie Pomykala announces retirement
One of the longest standing and most successful coaches in CIS men's basketball, Eddie Pomykala, who has been at the helm of the Bishop's Gaiters for 24 years, announced his retirement from coaching today effective at the end of this season. Pomykala led the Gaiters to a CIS National Championship in 1998, bringing prominence to the historic University in Lennoxville, PQ. Eddie's teams have always very well prepared and motivated and he leaves a tremendous legacy of players/alumni and memories that form a great foundation for the program. Eddie has accepted a position in student recruitment and will continue as a great ambassador for Bishop's. A successor to Pomykala has not been named as of yet however an announcement could be forthcoming as soon as a couple of weeks and the new coach is likely to come from within the Bishop's family. Congratulations to Eddie for a wonderful career and best wishes for a successful career after coaching.

Eddie, with mixed emotions I wish you all of the best in your future career. I am sad to see you go, but I want to thank you for your tireless support and leadership in promoting and advancing CIAU/CIS basketball. We will miss you in the coaches box but hope to see you courtside for many years to come. You are one of the best.
Coach P best of Luck!!
