Canada West Playoffs: Vikes sweep Clan

Victoria 77, Simon Fraser 69 OVERTIME; Victoria sweeps Best-of-3 Pacific Division semi-final 2 games to 0 6'1" Brandon Dunlop and 6'4" Ryan MacKinnon hit early 3's in the overtime as the Vikes held SFU to only 5 points in the extra session to sweep their series in Victoria in front of 1,200 fans. Vic trailed by 6 late in the third quarter and the teams battled until 6'7" Mitch Gudgeon (13 points, 10 rebounds) tied the score with 2:55 to play in regulation. Neither team was able to score again down the stretch as there were several turnovers forcing the overtime. The Vikes got out to an 8-2 run to start the extra session including the 2 3's and then went 5-6 from the foul line down the stretch to seal the win.

UBC 72, UCFV 66; UBC wins Best-of-3 Pacific Division semi-final 2-0 6'8" Bryson Kool shook off a mediocre effort in Friday's game one with a game-high 20 points and 7 rebounds to lead the T-Birds to the series sweep. 6'9" Kyle Graves played his last game as a Cascade and led his team with 15 points and 6 rebounds as UCFV lost both of their first-ever CIS playoff games. UBC will host UVic next weekend in the Pacific Division championship.

Saskatchewan 66, Alberta 64; Best-of-3 Central Division semi-final tied 1-1 The Huskies held on for a two-point win as 6'7" Andrew Spagrud had 20 points and 11 rebounds while 6'2" Kyle Grant went 5 for 6 from 3 en route to 17 points. Alberta shot under 40% and went only 4-17 from downtown. The deciding game 3 goes tomorrow afternoon in Edmonton.

Regina 64, Winnipeg 57; Regina leads Best-of-3 Great Plains division semi-final 1-0 The Wesmen hung tough despite not having 5'9" All-Canadian Erfan Nasajpour and 6'6" Dan Shynkaryk in the lineup as 6'3" Bryden Wright led all scorers with 20 points. 6'3" sophomore Peter Lomuro had 16 to lead Winnipeg.
