Brandon officially initiates search for New Head Coach

BRANDON, MB - National advertisements will appear on Saturday, February 16, 2008 calling for applications to fill the position of Men's Basketball Head Coach at Brandon University with a tenure track appointment.

The current Head Coach of the BU men's basketball program, Mike Raimbault, has been in an interim nine-month term appointment, structured this way due to his recruitment taking place relatively late in the summer of 2007. The intention at that time was to hire someone to see the team through to the end of the 2007-2008 season and to make a more permanent appointment for the beginning of the 2008-2009 season.

Coach Raimbault and the team have been kept apprised of the plans, and interviews will be conducted after the current season is over to minimize any impact on the current program.

The advertisement will run nationally with the intent being to have the tenure-track appointee to the position in place for April 2008.

Questions about this process should be directed to Kirk De Fazio, Brandon University Athletic Director.

It is hard to see how Brandon could not make Raimbault the permanent head coach after the excellent season the Bobcats have had this year.
In fact, it is practically inconceivable that anyone else would get the job, especially since that would mean starting all over again for all intents and purposes.
