AUS Sunday: Acadia clinches first place

Neate Sager's look at the CIS Top 10

Acadia (17-2) clinched first place with a 69 point win at Memorial. With 46 points, no one can catch the Axemen atop the AUS standings and they will enter the AUS tournament as the #1 seed in two weeks at the Halifax Metro Center. The battle for second remains tight as Cape Breton leads X and SMU by 2 points. X (13-5) defeated Dalhousie yesterday 82-72 - the Tigers finish fifth and will meet the fourth-place finisher in the first round. X finishes with a pair of two-point games at Memorial. Cape Breton owns the tie-breaker with X so with a split next weekend against St. Mary's, CBU takes second place. If Saint Mary's sweeps CBU, the Cape Breton drops all the way to fourth (assuming X sweeps at MUN). X owns the tiebreaker with Saint Mary's, having defeated the Huskies three out of four. UPEI, 77-69 winners over UNB yesterday, are locked in sixth place. Gordie Sutherland from the Halifax Chronicle-Herald recaps Sunday's action

Acadia 17-2 46 pts.
Cape Breton 14-4 40 pts.
StFX 13-5 38 pts.
Saint Mary's 12-6 38 pts.
Dalhousie 8-10 22 pts.
UPEI 7-12 18 pts.
UNB 2-16 8 pts.
Memorial 0-18 0 pts.
