Mustangs, Badgers, Warriors win on the road; Ryerson beats Mac

Western 76, Laurentian 60  Jumping out to a 44-24 lead by halftime, Western cruised to a win in Sudbury, holding the Voyageurs to only 3 for 19 shooting from beyond the arc.  5'11" Ryan Barbeau finished with 19 to lead all scorers while All-Canadian Andy Wedemire had 18 points on 7 for 7 shooting and grabbed 13 rebounds.  6'5" freshman Pete Scholtes added 16 for Western while Georges Serresse had 16 to lead Laurentian.  Western welcomed back 6'6" Garrett Olexiuk into the lineup for 12 minutes as he eases his way back from a serious knee injury.  6'8" newcomer Adam Jespersen had 5 points in 14 minutes in his Western league debut before fouling out.  Western travels to York while Laurentian hosts Windsor tomorrow night.

Brock 64, Ottawa 62  The injury-riddled Badgers frustrated Ottawa's star scorer Warren Ward into a 2 for 13 shooting night by sending double and triple teams at him in what was an ugly 42 turnover, 40 foul affair in which both teams shot below 36%.  6'6" Mark Gibson was the difference down the stretch for Brock, scoring 6 of his 12 points with all 3 tough hoops when it counted against 6'9" Louis Gauthier, who had a nice 16 point, 13 rebound double double but missed some makeable shots late.  Ottawa shot just 10 for 24 from the free throw line including Ward's 2 of 8 and turned it over 20 times.  6'1" Andrew Kraus fought through foul trouble all night but still led the way for Brock, making several big shots as part of his 16 point effort (4-5 3's).  6'3" point guard Luc Minani was forced to leave the game after just 14 minutes after a seperate pair of intentional/excessive force fouls.

Ryerson 75, McMaster 70  6'0" freshman Jahmal Jones was outstanding with 24 points as the Rams overcame a fourth quarter deficit plus the loss of three rotation players in the first quarter to knock off the Marauders.  Ryerson lost 6'3" fifth-year guard Ryan McNeilly and 6'7" Bjorn Michaelsen on the very first possession of the game 10 seconds in when the two collided heavily with McNeilly's head smashing into Michaelsen's mouth causing the freshman center to lose 3 teeth and McNeilly to suffer a significant gash in his head.  Later in the first, 6'8" Matt Lapointe sprained his ankle and did not return.   But the Rams would recover late led by two other freshman 6'7" Jelane Pryce (16 points) who made a number of big shots and finishes in transition and 6'3" Jordan Gauthier (13 points in 35 minutes).  Jones was consistently able to get out in transition and break defenders down off the dribble.  The Marauders gave up the lead with several fourth-quarter turnovers and some fouls including an unsportsmanlike and intentional fouls in the fourth.  In all Ryerson shot 42 free throws resulting from 27 Marauder fouls.  6'5" Scott Laws had 20 points to lead Mac while 6'8" Scott Brittain added 12 points and 8 rebounds in just 18 minutes.  6'3" newcomer Kenan Etale added 15 for Mac which turned it over 20 times and lost 6'6" Cam Michaud, their usual veteran go-to guy offensively, to fouls.

Waterloo 82, RMC 59  Building on a 15 point halftime lead, the Warriors outgunned RMC 26-10 in the third to roll to the win in Kingston as 4 players scored in double figures led by 6'8" Alan Goodhoofd with 16 points.

The big story tonight in the OUA actually comes from the women.
Friday night, in Kingston, the RMC women...grab a chair and sit down... beat Waterloo 64-47.
And that's not the half of it.
Not only did the RMC women win, they kicked some serious ass doing it.
They were up by 26 after three quarters.
Holy Kevin Dulude, Batman!
What is up with THAT?
