In a very exciting finish with several lead changes, 6'2" Antwann Parks knocked down an open three off a draw and kick feed from 5'10" point guard Andy Wright with just 55 seconds left to break a 75-75 tie, part of a game-deciding 7-0 run that allow the Reds to sweep the Sea-hawks this weekend.
With just under 2 minutes remaining, MUN's slick 6'5" forward Robbi Habib slashed to the rim and finished with a nice banker to give the Sea-hawks their last lead at 75-73 but Wright tied it with a jumper on the next possession, starting the 7-0 run. Later Parks, a third-year combo guard from Queen's, NY just back from a knee injury, tied up a MUN player defensively on the baseline on an attack at the rim and the Reds took possession with the arrow in their favour. 6'5" Alex Desroches then helped clinch the game on a drive to the rim with less than 1 second on the shot clock to give the Reds a five point lead with under 20 seconds to play. Mark Woodland's late 3 made it tight but Wright was equal to the pressure, knocking down a pair of free throws with 8 seconds remaining to clinch it.
The Reds jumped out to a 21 point second quarter lead and it appeared that, like last night, the route was on. However Habib and Jason Shepherd led a MUN comeback that got the game back to within 5 by halftime. Later Shepherd gave MUN their first lead of the game at 66-65 with a jumper with about 6 minutes left in the fourth. The lead then changed hands several times before Parks big shot and subsequent tie up on the defensive end.
...More to come
