Ottawa 82, Guelph 60 The Gee-Gees held Guelph to 9 first quarter points and grabbed an 18 point halftime lead before coasting over the Gryphs (0-2). 6'2" freshman Johnny Berhane had a big second half shooting it and led all scorers with 18 points while 6'6" Warren Ward shook off a mediocre performance on Friday night vs. Brock to finish with 15 points and 7 rebounds for Ottawa (1-1). 6'0" Kareem Malcolm had 14 to lead Guelph and 6'4" Jonathan Moscatelli ended with 12 on 3-13 shooting.
Queen's 63, Waterloo 62 6'2" Dan Bannister had 20 points in 38 minutes to lead the Gaels (1-1) who used a 22-7 third quarter run to erase a 15 point deficit. 6'3" Cam McIntyre had 23 points for the Warriors (1-1) to lead all scorers.
Lakehead 101, Ryerson 74 6'2" Jamie Searle had 33 points including a 6 for 10 effort from behind the arc and newcomer Venzal Russell added 20 points and 9 rebounds as the T-Wolves enjoyed a dominant fourth quarter to pull away in downtown Toronto. Ryerson, which played without 3 regulars including fifth-year starter Ryan McNeilly and 6'7" freshman center Bjorn Michaelsen who were both severely injured in the first minute of last night's win against Mac, was led by a pair of freshman, 6'3" Ryan Gauthier with 21 points and 6'0" point guard Jahmal Jones with 17. The big fourth quarter run that brought back memories of last season for the T-Wolves when they came back from several deficits with dominating defensive efforts and the three ball as Lakehead went 12 for 29 from downtown.
