RMU jumped out to leads of 9-0, 15-2 and 32-11 in the first 15 minutes of the first half and never trailed in the contest. McGill was held scoreless for the three and-a-half minutes of the contest before Simon Bibeau hit a jumper at the 16:15 mark of the first half.
Bibeau led all scorers in the game with 24 points, converting six of his 12 shots from the field, including a 3-for-6 showing from beyond the arc, and going 9-for-10 at the free-throw line.
McGill trimmed its deficit to 38-22 at halftime on the strength of an 11-6 run as Bibeau scored six points and Olivier Bouchard added a three-pointer.
