Coach sets his sights high for new-look Marauders
A new era of McMaster men’s basketball officially begins Friday in Toronto.
That’s when Mac, under first-year head coach Amos Connolly, opens its Ontario University Athletics schedule against the Ryerson Rams.
Connolly, a 36-year-old former Marauders assistant coach, takes over from Joe Raso, whose contract wasn’t renewed last spring after a consistently solid 18-year career at the Hamilton university. Raso, incidentally, still teaches around the corner at St. Mary’s Catholic Secondary School and his daughter, Patricia, plays for the McMaster women’s volleyball team.
Raso’s son, Victor, a second-year guard, remains a key member of the basketball team.
