Dalhousie 85, UPEI 68; Capers sweep SMU

6'9" Joe Schow had one of his best games in a Tigers uniform as Dal pulled away early in the fourth with a game-deciding 17-3 run that gave them a 73-57 lead, cruising to the easy win in their final home game prior to the Christmas break.

After the Tigers extended a five point halftime lead to double digits midway through the third quarter, the Panthers, led by 6'3" Jon Cooper (19 points/9 rebounds) climbed back into the game with a 7-0 run that got the game back to within 3.  UPEI's strategy of half court pressure and zone d's seemed to confuse and slow the Tigers down but Schow, who finished with game-highs of 25 points and 15 rebounds, scored the final 4 points of the quarter including an emphatic slam to give Dal some breathing room entering the fourth.

The early fourth-quarter run featured 4 more points and several defensive rebounds by Schow, a three by 6'1" Peter Leighton and the usual hard play and table setting by 6'1" Simon Farine.  When 6'2" Stephen Lopez stole the ball from Manock Lual, (14 points) who had a tremendous first half but faded down the stretch, and finished a break away lay-in, Dal led 73-57 with just over 5 minutes remaining and the result was not in doubt after that.

Cape Breton 101, Saint Mary's 82  In Sydney, Capers sent the Huskies to their 4th consecutive loss and won their fourth straight after a tough pre-season.  CBU led by over 30 at one point in the game in arguably their best overall effort of the season.
