Even though Carleton almost doubled the score on the Vikings, there was still plenty of things happening on the floor that had Dave Smart fuming.
Carleton started slowly, with SLC nearly trading shot for shot in the first quarter.
Leading only 19-15, Smart used a timeout to tell his troops in no uncertain terms what he thought of their effort, especially on D.
Early on, the Vikings were getting off some good shots in close, especially Mathieu Riendeau who led the Vikes with 12 points.
After play resumed, it appeared the Ravens got the message.
Carleton closed out the first quarter with a 6-0 run to lead by ten.
Then in the 2nd quarter, Carleton ramped up the pressure and held SLC to just a 3pt FG and one FT in a dominant 22-4 second quarter to lead 47-19 at the half.
It seemed Carleton would hit the century mark with ease but the Ravens seemed to lose focus in the third quarter.
Carleton sputtered offensively, with several poorly run sets and careless turnovers that resulted in a near even low scoring quarter 15-14 in favour of the Ravens.
Finally, an exasperated Smart called a TO and tore a strip off his charges, even slamming his clipboard onto the floor in disgust.
Leading 62-33 after 3, the Ravens made liberal use of their bench, bringing in Kevin Churchill and new player Gael Kanza.
Once again, Carleton buckled down on defense, holding SLC to 8 points but with several lesser used players in the lineup, scored only 17 themselves.
Elliot Thompson, who struggled with his perimeter shooting so far, went off for a 6-8 performance from 3 (8-13 overall) to lead the team with 22 points.
He also led the team with 7 rebounds.
