Laurier 110, Cape Breton 86

6'6" freshman Patrick Donnelly had 26 points including 4-6 from downtown and added 6 rebounds and 6'5" sophomore Max Allin added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists as the Golden Hawks hammered the reeling Capers, who lost their 6th game in a row against CIS/CCAA competition.  Laurier shot 11-22 from downtown and used a 25-5 run during a six minute span midway through the second quarter to take a big lead and romped from there.

Allin (12 points) and Donnelly (11 points) were instrumental in the game-changing run, each knocking down a pair of 3's while the Hawks stiffened defensively.  CBU jumped out to an early 7 point lead at 15-8 led by 6'2" Tremaine Fraser, who finished with 23 points.  Fraser gave the Capers their last lead of the night with a jumper on the first possession of the second quarter and then the Hawks started their big run.

Once again, the Capers played without 6'2" all-conference point guard Jimmy Dorsey and 6'4" fifth-year forward Phil Nkrumah, the reigning CIS defensive player of the year.
