Out East: Acadia edges Lakehead, Dal clobbers Bishop's

Acadia 72, Lakehead 70  6'6" Justin Boutilier hit the game winning shot with 1 second remaining to give the Axemen the exciting win at home.  Boutilier finished with 16 points (including 2-3 3's) and added 12 points as he continues to fulfill the promise after being a highly-touted recruit out of Niagara Falls A.N. Myer.  Another touted sophomore 6'8" Owen Klassen added 14 points/10 rebounds for Acadia.

After Lakehead's Jamie Searle tied the game with a pair of free throws with 6 seconds remaining enabling the Thunderwolves to come from 4 down with one minute remaining, Boutilier hit his clutch shot.  Earlier a jumper by 6'4" Vensal Russell (20 points, 6 rebounds in 21 minutes) brought the Wolves to within 2.

The game had 10 ties and numerous lead changes.  After Acadia jumped ahead by 9 early in the second quarter at 25-16 on a Klassen dunk, no team had leads larger than 6 the entire rest of the way in what was an exciting game in Wolfville.  Lakehead coach Scott Morrison spread the minutes around partially in an attempt to find his team's range from downtown as the normal effective Thunderwolves three-point game was an uncharacteristic 5-22 from downtown.  6'3" Anthony Sears had 13 points for Acadia.
