Guelph 83, Humber 72
In what has become an annual game between two schools who share satellite campuses, the OUA West Gryphons got a total of 39 points from a pair of unheralded freshman sharpshooters as George Mason (FR/Toronto St. Mike's) had 20 points including 6 for 7 from downtown and Michel Clark (FR/Burlington Nelson) added 19 points to lead Guelph over traditional OCAA/CCAA power Humber Hawks on Tuesday night. Mark Perrin led the Hawks with 19 points off the bench. Mike Dvorak and Michael Acheampong each added nine points. Guelph took a 35-25 halftime lead, but the Hawks stormed back to tie the game at 58 apiece to enter the fourth. The Hawks were coming off a championship game appearance at the prestigous Hagen tournament at Dawson College in Montreal while the Gryphs went 1-1 over this past weekend, losing an overtime heartbreaker to Cape Breton. Sheridan College transfer Jerald Greenidge, an athletic four man, added 10 points and 9 rebounds for Guelph. The Gryphs host Guelph Phoenix men's team on Friday night and then Acadia Axemen on Saturday.
