The Rouge et Or were crowned Naismith Classic champions at Waterloo by shooting a scorching 20 for 43 from downtown for a comfortable win against the Sea-hawks. Laval led by 11 at halftime and by 15 after 3 before pulling away in the fourth as six Laval players were in double figures.
6'4" tournament all-star Jerome Turcotte had 22pts 13 rebs while 5'9" point guard Xavier Baribeau added 19 (5/9 3pts). 6'6" Etienne Labrecque added 11 while 6'3" tournament MVP J.F. Beaulieu-Mahieux added 10.
The Rouge et Or now host their own tournament next weekend as UNB, Saint Mary's and Carleton Ravens visit Quebec City in another very strong field. Laval finally have our full roster next week as injured big guys Simon Mercier and potential starter Alexandre Prophete are expected to return.
