Windsor 79, Fraser Valley 70

6'2" Isaac Kuon had 17 points while 6'7" freshmen Lien Phillip made his Lancer CIS debut with 16 to lead visiting Windsor over the Cascades. Windsor led 40-35 at half and then had a various leads of 10+ in the 2nd half but could never put the pesky Cascades away. 6'3" Sam Freeman led all scorers with 22 points for UFV while 6'7" Nigel Johson-Tyghter added 11 and 7 boards and 6'0" Monty Hardware 12 points for the Lancers.

In a typical pre-season game, both teams had some good stretches of play followed by what Windsor Coach Chris Oliver generously stated when talking about his group as "some interesting moments". UFV stayed in the game with strong shooting from beyond the 3 point line, going 10-24. 6'4" freshman Joel Friesen, returning to action after a full year out with a knee injury, had an impressive CIS debut with 15 points.

From UFV web site... The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades men’s basketball team made the game close in the final minutes before falling 79-70 to the University of Windsor in non-conference basketball action Thursday at Envision Athletic Centre.

The touring Lancers held a 40-35 lead at the half, and stretched the lead to 10-point by the three-quarter mark.
