UBC stages late rally to defeat Waterloo

The UBC Thunderbirds staged a late run during today’s pre-season game against the Waterloo Warriors, outscoring the visitors 8-2 in the final two minutes, to defeat the Warriors 67-61 at War Memorial Gym.


Kyle Watson hit a big put back down the stretch as UBC escaped with a 67-61 win over Waterloo on Saturday. The Thunderbirds stumbled out of the gate versus Waterloo and found themselves down by 11 after one quarter.

That tough start set the stage for the game. UBC battled hard the rest of the way, with the Warriors managing to keep them at bay until Josh Whyte drove the ball up court with 2:44 left to play. Whyte found a wide open Denny Dumas deep in the corner, where Dumas hit a game-tying three pointer.
