McMaster 88, St. Francis Xavier 52
Building leads as high as 43 points at 73-30, the Marauders put together a dominating effort defensively and running transition to defeat the X-Men. Defensively, the Marauders helped create 33 X turnovers, many resulting in easy scores at the other end. Mac also kept X off the glass and had numerous transition layups after X misses. Once again, 6'6" Keenan Jeppesen led the way for Mac with 19 points and 7 steals while 6'6" Cam Michaud added 15 points including 3 3's. The X-Men tried a zone in the first half while it was still a game but the Marauders knocked down shots building a 25 point halftime lead. 6'8" Ryan Christie finished with 11 points and several blocks while 5'11" Jermaine DeCosta continues to meet the challenge at the point guard position, leading Mac's ball defense and transition game. The X-Men forged some early second half momentum but three missed layups early in the third quarter sealed their fate. 5'10" Christian "T-Bear" Upshaw scored but had trouble dribbling into Mac help "d" while Algonquin transfer Charlie Spurr struggled with his shooting. Maybe the most impressive X player was 6'3" freshman Jordan Clarke. Generally speaking, Mac was bigger, stronger, defended exceptionally well and is rapidly gaining confidence as a group that feels like they should win every night. 6'2" Tyrell Vernon added 15 points including 2 3's. Scoring with their defensive rebounding in transition.
