Acadia 88, Manitoba 85

With thanks to Martin Timmerman... Acadia stages a late comeback to knock off Manitoba as 6'8" freshman Owen Klassen has his best game at the CIS level and college transfer Sean Maxwell goes off for the Bisons...

The Acadia Axemen led this game for just 17 seconds, as they came from behind to defeat the Manitoba Bisons 88-85. Over the last 2:30 of the game Acadia out scored the Bisons 14-2 to claim the victory.

The Bisons started the game on an 8-0 run, but by the end of the quarter led by just 4. Acadia narrowed the difference to just two to start the second half, but Manitoba held a 46-31 lead at half time. Manitoba took best advantage of Acadia turnovers on their way to the lead.

In the second half, Acadia started with a 9-0 run to get the difference back into single digits and for the half reduced their turnovers to just four. For much of the second half, Manitoba held close to a 10 point lead, including up by 9 with 2:30 left.

Sean Maxwell led all scorers by hitting for 33 points for Manitoba. Acadia had five players in double figures, led by Alex Traikov with 26 and Owen Klassen with 15 points and 18 rebounds.
