Regina 95, McGill 72 In the opening game of the Saskatchewan tournament in Saskatoon, the Cougars (1-0 vs. CIS) went on a 29-5 run in the third quarter to break open a two point halftime game and went on to defeat McGill (1-4 vs. CIS), handing the Redmen their fourth consecutive loss in the pre-season. The Cougars, who shot 53% for the game, were led by 6'5" fifth-year forward Jamal Williams with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6'5" senior Marek Downarowicz with 15 pts, 7 rebs. 6'1" fifth-year guard Paul Schubach added 12 pts, 5 asts and 6 stls. McGill lee by 6'4" Matthew Thornhill 12 pts, 3 stls. and 6'4" Jesse Woods 10 pts, 4 rebs. The Redmen shot .442 FGs. (...with thanks from U of S Twitter entries)...

Huskie hoopsters showcase talent as hosts of pre-season tournament

After dribbling toe-to-toe with the national champions last weekend, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies men's basketball team is ready to play host to its annual pre-season tournament.

The Graham Construction Shoot-out runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the PAC on campus. Joining the host Huskies are the McGill Redmen, Thompson Rivers WolfPack of B.C. and the Regina Cougars.

"We've got a good team," said U of S head coach Greg Jockims, whose team gave the defending Canadian Interuniversity Sport champion Carleton University Ravens a good run at the House-Laughton Hoops Classic in Ottawa, losing in the final 97-79.
