Calgary 64, Dalhousie 57

Calgary's Big 3 of 6'9" Tyler Fidler, 6'6" Robbie Sihota and 6'8" Ross Bekkering combined for 55 of the Dinos 64 points and Bekkering was key down the stretch making big plays and going 4-4 from the foul line late as the Dinos finished the game on a 9-2 run over the last 3 minutes to earn a very solid victory in a game featuring two teams with very reasonable Top 10 aspirations. Calgary led 47-39 after three quarters however the Tigers tied the game at 55 and it appeared that the game might come down to the final possession. But Calgary took the lead and then pulled away late with a sterling effort on the foul line (19-21 f.t's as a team). Conversely, Dal made only 6-13 free throws in the second half which led to their undoing. Fidler led all scorers with 20 points while Sihota added a 17 point/12 rebound double-double. Bekkering, who is Calgary's best overall player, struggled from the floor but was a factor when it counted, finishing with 18 points (including 10-11 f.t's) and 10 rebounds. Dal made a valiant run back to tie the score and was led by 6'1" Simon Farine's 15 points while 6'9" Joe Schow had a 10 point/11 rebound double/double against his former program. 6'2" Andrew Sullivan had possibly his best effort of the young season, knocking down 3-6 3's and finishing with 10 points for Dal, which started 6'5" freshman William Yengue in place of 6'2" Marcus Wong. In a tight defensive game in which both teams did not go deep into their benches for any extended period of time, Dal's 6'7" Sandy Viet, Fidler and 6'1" point guard Jamie McLeod for Calgary all fouled out.
