STINGERS COME BACK TO DOWN WESMEN

The Concordia University Stingers erased a 15 point deficit after three quarters to defeat the Winnipeg Wesmen 80-71 Saturday night at the Pembina Chrysler Invitational Tournament at the Duckworth Centre.

The Stingers trailed 65-50 after three quarters but outscored the Wesmen 30-6 in the final quarter to complete the comeback.

Decee Krah scored a game high 21 points, including four-of-five from three point territory to lead the Stingers. Hamza Ruhezamihigo finished with a double-double 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Peter Lomuro led the Wesmen with 17 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Nick Lother finished with 14 points and five assists. Ben Kingdon led Winnipeg on the boards with 10.

The Wesmen took control of the game early on building a 21-14 lead after the opening ten minutes of play. The teams played a tight defensive second quarter with the Stingers outscoring the Wesmen 20-18 to cut the Wesmen lead to 39-34 at the halftime break.

Winnipeg came out firing on all cylinders in the third quarter outscoring the Stingers 26-16 and managed to extend their lead to 65-50 after three quarters.

Concordia finishes the two day tournament with a perfect 2-0 record. Winnipeg ends the tournament with an 0-2 record.
