The deep, talented Capers dominated virtually from start to finish with solid, veteran guard play and a pair of dominating athletic wings to defeat the hometown Ottawa Gee-Gees in the second game of the Jack Donohue tournament. 6'4" Paris Carter, a U.S. import from Baltimore, showed off his tremendous mid range game with 20 points (including 4 for 6 from downtown) while 6'4" wing Phil Nkrumah, showing off his strength and explosiveness, had his way with the younger Gee-Gee wings, scoring 22 points off countless attacks of the rim and post ups when getting favorable matchups. Capers pair of talented point guards 6'0" Tremaine Fraser and 5'11" Chris Noddle ran the show and showed the poise of a pair of steady veterans as Cape Breton turned it over only 8 times all night. Cape Breton generally spread the floor and let their athletes create off the dribble and find the mismatches. For Ottawa, 6'3" fifth-year wing Donnie Gibson competed and ended the night with 22 points while 6'1" Max Clarkson was very good with 14 points. 6'7" Matt Riendeau added 11 points/10 boards for the Gee-Gees. 6'4" Josh Gibson-Bascombe finished with 10 points but took only 8 shots all night. The Gee-Gees surrender over 90 points for the second consecutive game, allowing the Capers to shoot 54% from the floor and this generally young, inexperienced group is shaping up as one of the most pourous defensive teams in Coach Dave DeAveiro's tenure at Ottawa however the Capers showed the talent of a high end Top 10 with a dominating effort tonight.
