If I had to compose a top 10 list right at this moment I would have Saskatchewan on top, followed by Carleton and UBC.
The Huskies have looked every bit the defending champ so far and it is impossible not to give them their due.
I chose Carleton over UBC because the Ravens beat Windsor by 15, a team expected to be top 10, while UBC did struggle to put away Guelph, who might be the most improved team in the OUA this year.
The official poll doesn't come out until around Nov 1, I believe.
By then, a crucial early season showdown between UBC and Sask will have already taken place.
Played in Vancouver, the two game series between the national champion and runner-up Oct 22-23 will hugely impact the first poll.
A sweep by either team would propel the winner into top spot without question.
A split, however, would be most beneficial to Carleton.
Assuming the Ravens win their tournament today and then go 3-0 next week in Laval (opponents SMU, UNB and the hosts) Carleton would get top spot in the event of a split by Sask and UBC.
At any rate, it should be noted that in the last five years, the one seed heading into the CIS tournament has gone on to win only once.
