For those who have not heard, in an effort to bring more profile to OUA basketball, the format of the Wilson Cup has been changed to a Final Four format with the two semi-final winners of the OUA East and OUA West playoffs gathering this season in Hamilton at McMaster University. The OUA semi-final winners, decided in games on the Friday night, will automatically qualify for the Nationals in Halifax. Current format has #1 OUA East seed meeting #2 OUA West seed followed by #1 OUA West seed meeting #2 OUA East seed. The two winners will meet the following night for the Wilson Cup, emblematic of the OUA championship. This game should also have some effect on seedings at the Nationals.

The OUA Wilson Cup Final Four goes March 4th and 5th, 2010 with the two semi-final games on Friday night and the Wilson Cup championship on Saturday night. All 3 games will be broadcast on The Score television network. Congratulations to the OUA for putting together this tournament.

I'm surprised there is no third place game. Is the OUA worried that it will only serve to play a potential wild card out of contention instead of the reverse?
