6'2" Kyle Desmarais broke a 66-66 tie with a driving layup with 1:20 remaining to give the Stingers the lead for good and Concordia used an active, trapping half court zone trap to create late turnovers, clinching the game on the line and moving into sole possession of first place in the QUBL. The Stingers scored the final 10 points of the game, including an 8-8 effort at the free throw line.
Concordia moves to 10-4 on the season and after a mid-season slump have won 4 in a row and 5 of their last 6 with 6'3" Evens Laroche returning from an ankle injury a key story. Laroche was solid in the press and had a big basket late in the game when the game was still very much up for grabs. UQAM drops to 5-8 and is likely to finish fourth in the league.
