The Tigers dominated the second half as 6'1" Simon Farine orchestrated, 6'9" Joe Schow worked in and around the paint and 6'0" Peter Leighton made several key shots to keep the Huskies scratching to clinch a playoff spot. SMU took a 24-23 lead late in the first half on 5 consecutive points by 6'1" Joey Haywood, who again went for 30+ points, but Dal took the lead for good shortly thereafter and cruised to an easy win before a near capacity crowd at DalPlex in Halifax.
Dal has long since clinched second place and with just one Cape Breton win in their three remaining games, the Tigers will finish second in the AUS. Saint Mary's has just two games remaining at Acadia and then next Saturday at Dal and are tied with UPEI however Huskies own the tiebreaker. UPEI finishes at CBU and at X.
