By all accounts, the recent Canadian U15/U17 championships hosted by Manitoba Basketball at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg were extremely well run and well received. Not surprisingly, a key ingredient to the overall success of the how the tournament was viewed by observers across the country is their extensive use of multimedia including having each game available for viewing live along with LIVE STATS of each game, among other things. Any conscious or subconscious association of this post and commentary with this morning's post on the Ottawa Citizen's editorial regarding the CIS is purely coincidental.
State-of-the-art tournament at U of M a real ripsnorter

The 2010 17U/15U Men's National Basketball Championships wrapped up at the University of Manitoba's Investors Group Athletic Centre on Saturday night, and tournament organizers are thrilled with the results, even though the home teams couldn't bring home the hardware.
Basketball Manitoba executive director Adam Wedlake called the tournament "fantastic," crediting a staff of over 200 volunteers with helping everything run as smoothly as possible.
"Sometimes the easiest part of a tournament is the game itself, but it's all the stuff that happens from the sidelines outwards that turns it from a tournament to an actual event for the kids and coaches and spectators."
Every game of the tournament was broadcast live (and made available on DVD); live, up-to-the-minute game stats were available online, and a professional photography studio shot the six-day event from start to finish.
