I agree but then again the AUS gets no respect.

This made my day- no Cape! A team that actually plays basketball with respect for the game and others deserves the wildcard. Maybe Cape will clean up their act in the future. Plus, they did lose to Acadia.

I think many people are very biased against CBU. They go on how they have no respect for the game and others. I agree that some of the players are that way but to say the team is that way is innacurate.

The AUS don"t get no respect?
Well, boo hoo.
Did you honestly expected any thing higher than 6 seed?
Hell, Lakehead had to beat Carleton to win the OUA....they EARNED that 4th seed.
No disrespect to Dal, but beating X isn't the mean feat it used to be.
And what can you say about them Capers?
Dumbest team in Canada.
In terms of b-ball IQ, Cape Breton are the Afghan Hounds of the CIS.
The Atlantic teams are exactly where they should be...so stop bitchin' and moanin' already and just be glad you got your precious little tournament back, OK?

Mark, my apologies, when I read your prediction of a six seed for the Tigers I thought you were way off but turns out you had it pegged perfectly. Despite the talent and the way they dominated a STFX team that the coaches across the country constantly ranked higher, the Tigers are a victim of a lack of depth in the conference for sure. The fact is the bottome four teams of the AUS were not nationally competitive programs. Talked to some of the tigers yesterday http://live.haligonia.ca/halifax-ns/sports/104-haligonia-sports/18595-post-game-dal-tigers-at-aus-2011-championships.html
and they didn't seem to concerned with where they would be seeded. They'll need to earn respect on the court just like Lakehead did. As for "precious tournament", talk to any maritime basketball junkie and they'll tell you they like the AUS tournament better anyway.

The bottom 4 teams of the AUS are not 'nationally competitive programs'...really?!?! Acadia was the first team to beat Carleton at the Final 8 in like forever only 3 years ago. SMU, UPEI both have conference titles within the last 7 - 8 years. I'm curious Bill, can you point out the conferences in this country in which the bottom 4 teams are 'nationally competitive programs' (presumably this year)??

Of course maritime b-ball junkies love the Final 6....an Atlantic team always comes out on top, LOL!
Seriously Bill, when Carleton landed the championship for three years, the hue and cry was deafening.
It was like some kind of national tragedy to some....
"How could they take 'our' tournament away like that?"
"They could have waited until we had our 25th anniversary"
"I hope they fall flat on their faces"...on and on and on.
And when Halifax got it back, it was "told you it wouldn't work in Ottawa" or
"thank God it's back where it belongs".
Well, for the record, I hope the locals support the tournament in droves.
I think Halifax got to point where they just took this event for granted...like the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, the Final 8 will always be here...not so.
I don't think Halifax will ever be complacent again.

The sun rises in the East remember that for without us you would be in darkness lol! Come to the tourney down here, it is a BLAST!
Let's get Cape and TWU to playoff in Toronto, they both have lots of cash, whoever wins is in!

Hey guys, think you mis read a couple of points.

As for the bottom four teams comment, if you read my posting again you'll see that I was refering to teams 5-8 this season. Meaning UNB, SMU, UPEI, and MUN. These teams this season. Not the Acadia team that made that incredible run two years ago. Not all the great SMU and UPEI teams of recent years. Im simply repeating what everybody else has been saying about the lack of depth in the conference this season compared to previous years.

As for the other comment, the key expression there is "maritime basketball junkie". There are alot of maritimers, including myself, that love AUS basketball and appreciate the AUS tourney more.

But am I excited about having the CIS back??? Hell ya!! Halifax is where it belongs!!

And by the way you're absolutely correct, we did take the tournament for granted and I think you'll see maritimers appreciate it alot more this time.

well, it's not that the aus gets no repect its just that the 6 seed is as high as the AUS will get, and should get. Who do the Tigers get higher than. Trinity Western? Lakehead? The only team to beat Carleton this year? Huskies? No. The AUS isn't bad, it's just the team in it this year, have amazing resumés and deserve to be higher.

UBC will beat Acadia by AT LEAST 30 points. Acadia already lost to St. FX by about 50 points and in the championship to Dal by over 30. I'm glad to see them take out CBU, but that was their moment. They're going to be embarrassed at the CIS.

We'll all get to see if Acadia can hang with UBC and who'll win between TWU and Lakehead. Just found out that we'll be doing the game on ssncanada.ca. I'll have the call with my partner on Tigers broadcasts, Emma Cooper.
