Local basketball fans could be excused for thinking they’d gone back in time Sunday afternoon at the Mitchell Athletics Centre.
It was almost like a flashback to District 10 high school basketball of five or six years ago as Scott Jaspers-Fayer of the Cape Breton Capers and Kevin Cameron of the Guelph Gryphons battled for position under the basket. Throw in Guelph CVI Green Gaels and Centre Wellington Falcons uniforms and the flashback would be complete.

Some thoughts about that Citizen article on the Ravens House-Laughton...
First, where is Wayne Kondro?
He is usually a fixture at Ravens home games, sitting at the end of the scorer's table writing comprehensive articles on the game replete with imaginative prose.
He has been noticeably absent in recent weeks.
As to the article itself, I thought it was light on actual details on the game itself, with only one or two paragraphs focused on it.
It only casually mentioned Hinz' 30 point performance against Victoria...as if it were no big deal.
The bulk of the article centered on quotes from Smart and a couple of players, Hinz and Chapman.
The comments were self deprecating to the point of being negative.
Yes, the Ravens are "a work in progress"...but with a perfectionist like Smart, aren't they ALWAYS a work in progress?
The players quotes seem to tote the party line..."we're not good as we have to be"....it's the same thing said virtually every year.
Well, at least there actually was an article in Monday's paper.
There was nothing at all in Friday's and Saturday's paper (at least in my editions) and only a tiny blurb on Sunday.
Worse yet, the CTV channel (CJOH) mentioned nothing about the tournament all weekend as far as could tell.
It seems the traditional media coverage of the CIS is getting worse than better.
