OUA Play-in Game: Brock headed to Ottawa after defeating Gee-Gees
Brock 68, Ottawa 58 Rohan Steen just hit a dramatic 3 from the left baseline with the shot clock winding down to give Brock an 8 point lead with just over a minute and Ottawa missed a three. This is one is basically done. Gee-Gees 6'3" Donnie Gibson hit his 3rd 3 of the afternoon in transition as Ottawa is in the midst of a 10-2 run with the ball down 5. Brock started the second half on a 14-2 run to take a 14 point lead but 6'3" Donnie Gibson just knocked down a 3 for the Gee-Gees. The Badgers outscored Ottawa 25-14 in the third quarter. Ottawa being stymied by tough Badgers "d" and back-to-back 3's by 6'2" Mike Kemp. The Badgers ended the half on an 18-5 run, getting back in the game primarily at the foul line and with a late 3 by 5'10" Brad Rootes who banked in a shot from behind the arc. The Badgers deployed a 3-2 zone defense in the second quarter which appeared to throw the Gee-Gees off. 6'9" Dax Dessureault had 8 points including a two-handed dunk off a solid set but sat down for the final 4 minutes of the first half with 2 fouls. Ottawa, which has been riding 6'4" Josh Gibson-Bascombe for virtually the entire game down the stretch of the season, got a chance to use their bench a little and give their starters uncharacteristic rest. Very low scoring with both teams missing several easy lay-ins but the "d" has also been tight.
