The Brandon Bobcats and Winnipeg Wesmen battled back and forth in a see-saw affair that saw the Bobcats come away with a 70-56 win. There wee nine lead changes, but the Bobcats ran away with it thanks to a dominant third quarter in which they out-score the Wesmen 21-10.
Two Bobcats finished with double-doubles and one finished one rebound shy of a double-double. Donovan Gayle led the way for the Bobcats with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Ali Mounir-Benabdelhak put up 14 points and 12 rebounds. Jordan Reaves finished 11 points and nine boards.
Mark McNee had a game-high 17 points for the Wesmen, while Dominique Brown picked up a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
With the win the Bobcats improve to 5-6 while the Wesmen fall to 2-8. The two teams will meet again Friday night in the second half of the weekend series in Winnipeg. Box Score
McGill 70, Bishop's 67 Nick Langley's jumper with just under two minutes to play gave the Redmen the lead for good after visiting Bishop's rallied from a 13 point deficit to take the lead as McGill (4-3) moved back into second place. The Gaiters remain winless at 0-6. Langley had 18 off the bench to lead McGill while 6'4" Karim Sy-Morissette had a near triple-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists.
