AUS Saturday: Panthers/Huskies in Halifax

Six teams in action in the AUS including an interesting matchup in Halifax as Saint Mary's hosts UPEI at the Tower.  Huskies had a road-heavy schedule in the first half and appeared to be a bit more focused on the defensive end during the recent Shoveller tournament.  Panthers remain undefeated in AUS play.

4 PM AT UNB at #2 St. FX   Coach Steve Konchalski goes after win #800 and the Reds look to grab their first victory in Antigonish in almost 8 years (last win was January, 2004).  SSN Canada

8 PM AT UPEI at Saint Mary's  Panthers have already defeated Huskies twice in league play in Charlottetown in the first half, winning by two in the first game despite 26 points from SMU's Torrey Fassett and then jumping out to an early double digit lead in the second game bouyed by a career-high 30 point effort from fifth-year wing Jonathan Cooper.  Expect another high scoring game between two teams that rarely go deep into their benches.

8 PM AT Dalhousie at Memorial (4 point game)  In a meeting of 7th and 8th place teams, Tigers appear to have shrugged off a slow start with a strong performance at their own Shoveller tournament and need a couple of wins in St. John's to once again make a push for a playoff berth.  Sea-Hawks have developed into a veteran group with the core having been together for 2-3 years but size remains an issue so expect Dal to try to attack early and often with 6'6" Robert Nortmann and 6'6" William Yengue.  Freshman Ritchie Kaza-Mata broke out with a couple of very strong efforts at the Shoveller as Dal finished third.  Memorial participated in the Ryerson tournament in Toronto.

AUS Standings:
St. FX  6-0, 16 pts
UPEI 6-0, 12 pts.
Acadia 3-3, 12 pts.

UNB 2-5, 8 pts.
