Hopefully everyone had a very Happy Thanksgiving and was able to find time to spend with family and other loved ones. Here are a couple of things that we've come across over the past few days.
UPEI PANTHER BASKETBALL BLOG: Many thanks to Scott MacDonald who has passed along the address to UPEI's basketball blog. The more information on CIS basketball available, here and anywhere else, is tremendous as hopefully it will help generate interest and profile from a grassroots level. UPEI's site will be updated 3-4 times a week with player info, game reports, video hilights, player profiles, and the Coach Davies report. The site has been up for only 3 days and already has a player profile on Jared Budd, mini-preview of this weekends Mickey Place tourney, Coach Davies report and info on this years Academic All-Canadians. Best of luck to the Panthers on this great new initiative UPEI Panthers Basketball Blog
X NEWS: I got a great note from Leo Doyle, a StFX alumnus, who points out that, in addition to his stints at Calgary and U of Ottawa, new ABU Head Coach Greg Maillet played his first year at St. FX and has included a link to photo which includes Maillet and a number of other individuals still involved in CIS basketball, including current St.FX Athletic Director Leo MacPherson, current St. FX women's coach Brent Baker and Geoff McIver (whose son Patrick plays at Acadia). 1983 St.FX Team Photo Also, for those X fans residing in or around the National Capital region, St. FX's men's basketball team will take part in the University of Ottawa's Jack Donohue Tournament on the weekend of October 19 to 21 with all games taking place at Montpetit Hall, University of Ottawa. A post-game gathering of St. F.X. Alumni & Friends, with Coach K and the team, is scheduled for Saturday, October 20, at the Urban Well, 244 Laurier Ave East. It will follow the 6pm game vs. Brock University. Come join us if your schedule allows. And please spread the word. St. F.X. games in the Donohue Tournament: X vs. Ottawa 8PM Oct 19; X vs. Brock 6PM Oct 20; X vs. Laval noon Oct 21.
The Bishop's Gaiters opened their season this past weekend with a setback at home against American International University Game Report plus the box score. The Gaiters return a number of rotation players from last season and bring in a big recruiting class with the hopes of returning to the QSSF playoffs which the club missed last season. The official Bishop's Gaiters basketball site has a comprehensive preview of this season's team which can be accessed by clicking here
