Athletes-in-Action defeats Alberta

The Alberta Golden Bears began their exhibition season last night with a 110-83 loss to Athletes-in-Action at home in Edmonton. Coach Don Horwood described AIA as "quite good" and AIA "made an unbelievable number of long range threes... they were a very veteran team with very good players." Leading scorers were not available. The Bears are off until next weekend when they travel to Victoria for the Guy Vetrie Memorial tournament where they will face Carleton, Brandon and UVic. AIA travels to Kamloops, BC to the Thompson Rivers Desert Classic beginning tonight.
