John McManus 1918-2006; McGill's OT win over UQTR; Canadians in D1 Report

Coach Craig Norman's resurgent McGill Redmen finished their pre-holiday schedule with another impressive victory, this time over defending Quebec leauge champions UQTR in overtime. Once again, freshman Matthew Thornhill from Dawson College had another strong game from behind the arc. In the next few days, I'll try to summarize the top scorers in each conference, discuss the top newcomers and identify the first-half all-stars for the conferences. Thanks for all the comments; keep the ideas coming and enjoy the blog.

McGill Game Report from Earl Zuckerman McGill Sports Info

The Hoop-la, a web site run out of Hamilton, Ontario, recently added an interesting piece on some Canadians from across the country toiling in NCAA basketball.

Finally, deepest condolences to the entire Toronto Varsity Blues basketball family on the news that long-time Blues mentor John McManus passed away over the weekend at the age of 88. McManus was the longest serving coach in the history of the Varsity Blues program and if I'm not mistaken coached current Varsity Blues head coach Mike Katz. Here are some articles:

Hi Mark...good work on the blog. The CIS site is so poor...stats page is wrong, late or no stories. We had two vs 3 on saturday, no story recap on the biggest game of the year. Very poor. If your going to do an analysis best go to the regional sites.

Good luck..
